Why Use PDFCrate's AI PDF Summarizer?
- Accurate, not approximate — Temperature is set to zero for deterministic output. The AI never invents information — it summarises only what is explicitly present in your document, making the output reliable enough to act on.
- Works on scanned documents — Automatically detects whether your PDF has a text layer or is a scanned image. Scanned PDFs are rasterized and sent to the vision API for reading — no need to run OCR first.
- Multiple languages supported — Request the summary in English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Portuguese, Italian, or Japanese — regardless of the original document language.
- Credits refunded on failure — Credits are deducted before the AI call and automatically refunded if processing fails for any reason. You are never charged for a result you did not receive.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many credits does the PDF AI Summarizer use?
Credit cost depends on your document length: short documents (1-5 pages) cost 1 credit, medium documents (6-20 pages) cost 2 credits, and long documents (21-50 pages) cost 5 credits. The credit cost is shown before you submit so there are no surprises. Credits reset at the start of each monthly billing period.
What types of PDF documents can be summarized?
The AI Summarizer works on research papers, legal contracts, business reports, academic articles, news articles, technical documentation, financial reports, and any other text-heavy PDF. It performs best on documents with clear, well-structured text. Very short documents (under one page) or documents consisting entirely of images, charts, or tables may produce less informative summaries since there is less prose to condense.
Is my document sent to OpenAI?
Yes. To generate the summary, your document's text content (or page images for scanned PDFs) is sent to OpenAI's API. OpenAI's API terms prohibit using submitted data to train their models by default. Your document is not stored by PDFCrate or OpenAI after processing. For documents containing highly sensitive or confidential information, review OpenAI's current data usage policies before proceeding.
